Manchester City did not attack Real Madrid enough according to Chris Waddle

Former England player Chris Waddle said that Manchester City respected Real Madrid too much and did not put them under pressure in the second leg of the game.

City was beaten 1-0 in Spain after conceding a goalless draw in the first leg.

Waddle said that Manchester City lacked creativity and attacking intent in Spain and that they could have done much better. He stated that they did not play with any tempo in their game and that it was too easy for Real Madrid. However, he believes that they do not have to be discouraged with the defeat as they are signs that they are progressing.

He added that it is not a humiliation to be beaten by Real Madrid, but it is just the fact that they could have done better. For him, Manchester City was a bit afraid of Real Madrid and forgot how to play their own football. For him, they had nothing to lose in Spain, and they should have attacked from the start of the game. He said that Manchester City had plenty of attacking options in the team, but they were not on display in the game against Madrid. Manuel Pellegrini outlines the importance of Sergio Aguero

It’s hard to deny that Sergio Aguero is one of the best players from the entire Premier League as the Argentine attacker is consistently scoring goals for whichever club that he joins, even before he had completed his move to Manchester City, when he was performing for the Spanish outfit Athletic Madrid, Aguero at that point in time was arguably one of the best forwards in the world.

Aguero is one of the top goal-scorers in the Premier League after having scored 10 goals in 15 league appearances and this is an incredible feat taking into consideration that the Argentine forward has been out of action for a significantly long period of time. The 27 year old forward had to be sidelined for over 2 months due to different injuries but he has still managed to find a place in the list of top goal-scorers of the top tier English League.

Manuel Pellegrini is hoping that Sergio Aguero will not suffer another injury in this season as his absence is huge and Pellegrini simply can’t afford to lose a player of his caliber and he doesn’t really have anyone else who can really replace him.
