TICON
November 15, 2007
She:kon: brothers and sisters: Thought i would share some thoughts
shared with someone who was concerned about the use of the English language
in the Declaration. This was as best as i could explain. Anyone
have any other thoughts? Peace. Onenkiwahi!

Subject: The Turtle Island Confederacy (TICON)
Prairiefire and Louise: She:kon: As one of the main writers of the
Declaration for The Turtle Island Confederacy (TICON), the first challenge was
to try to capture the essence of our original indigenous sovereignty in the English
language, a language that is now shared by all. It was understood that
not everyone would be happy with the choice of words and each Nation is free
to recommend changes to the Declaration, those changes to be agreed upon by the
Elders who will be signing on behalf of their Nations. Each Nation is also
free to attach a translation of the Declaration in their own language (i highly
recommend this - as i recommend that a wampun belt be made to memorialize this
also - that is the way the Great Law and all major events were memorialized).
i hope this satisfies your inquiries about the language used in the "initial" Declaration,
which was drafted only after discussions with a number of Elders over the course
of a few years. The words were carefully chosen from an imperfect language
to try to describe something that is perfect, our indigenous sovereignty. i
apologize if i failed in this. Peace and Love. Onenkiwahi! Tony

Feel free to call my cell number below to discuss this. By the way, the
White Buffalo Calf is a message to all to find and join TICON now.
